Pianopoli - Herkimer Italian Band 1912


This Picture of the original "Herkimer Italian Band" when it was founded in 1912, was loaned to the Evening Telegram by Joseph Chirico. of 240 S.Main St., Herkimer, one of the bandsmen, and Frank Servello, 232 W.Smith St., Herkimer, a nephew of Salvatore Servello, another member of the band. From left: first row (seated) Salvatore Servello, uncle of Frank, living in Mounat Kisco, and Pietro Christiano; second row - Tom Gallo, brother of Dr. James Gallo: Oreste Panza, Angelo Geneviva, Joe Ceneviva, professor of the band, now deceased in Pianopoli Italy, Agostino Pugliese, Canoga Park, Calif.; Angelo Notaro; -third row - Frank Pugliese, Frank Cimino, deceased in Pianopoli Italy, Antonio DiMasi Stamford, Conn,: John Salatino, unknown bandsman; Joseph Chirico, Herkimer; Joseph Cuda, Marcello Caracane, and Francesco Casale: fifth row- Joe Macrina, Pasquale Torchia, Tommaso Donato.
The band played at funerals, baptisms, showers, weddings, picnics, horse shows, fairs and other events untill it disbanded in the 1930's
