Giuseppe Casale born in Pianopoli 21 July 1889 and died in Pianopoli 13 January 1974, he was known as "the woodcarver" Since there was another Giuseppe Casale, younger, also a woodcarver.

Plaque of General Eisenhower, who became 34th President of United States serving from 1953 to 1961.

Pianopoli Giuseppe Casale carved the wooden plaque of General Eisenhower about 1945-1946.

His dream was to sent it directly to the General office in USA. That dream became a reality in 1949.




Ralph Maida is holding the plaque that he brought from Pianopoli to USA in 1949. The plaque was carved by Giuseppe Casale (woodcarver) in 1946. Ralph Maida and Pat Maida scheduled an appointment and brought it to General Eisenhower at Columbia University. Newspaper article was printed in the Hartford Times (no longer in existence) on August 28, 1949 by Morton J. Boardman.
